Formwork that stays
With lost formwork, we print the outer shape of an element. That shape is then filled with concrete and remains part of the structure. No timber or steel formwork is needed that has to be removed afterwards, and the printed exterior is the finish straight away. This pays off especially for organic or unusual shapes, where traditional formwork quickly becomes expensive.
- Complex and organic shapes without a mould
- Printed texture as a visible finish
- Tailored to the structural requirements of your project
Made with Robotic Additive Construction, also known as 3D concrete printing. More about 3D concrete printing
Why printed lost formwork
No temporary formwork
No formwork needs to be made, set up and removed again.
Freedom of form
Curves, angles and variation per element, without extra cost for a mould.
Finished in one go
The printed exterior is the visible finish straight away.
Less waste
No formwork that ends up as waste after use.
Exact fit
Digitally designed and printed to the dimensions of the project.
Developed together
We develop shape and dimensions together with you and your structural engineer.
From model to cast element
We include lifting points and transport in the design from the start, so the elements reach the site safely.
Digital design
We design shape, wall thickness, openings and lifting points in one parametric model.
Printing
The robot prints the formwork with thin walls in our robot lab, in several parts if needed.
Transport and placing
The elements are taken to site and lifted into place.
Filling
The formwork is filled with concrete, with reinforcement where the structure requires it.
Where lost formwork works
In building and civil engineering, wherever a concrete element takes a shape that departs from straight and standard.
- Retaining walls and walls
- Edges of basins and ponds
- Columns and footings
- Benches and planters with a concrete core
- Architectural elements
